Cheapskate Shopping

hello jello my squishy chickie friends (/*0*)/
iiiiiiiiiiiiit's RUKA!
C:

So, as the title says, today is all about cheap, bargain deals that are wallet-friendly ^^
I'm not a guru on anything, these are just thoughts and experiences that I think work(:

PS. All photos are taken with my new iPhone 5!!!!! -excited-
haha #humblebrag over, sorry XD

#1 CHEAP PLACES

singapore (streets/malls):
Far East Plaza
City Plaza
Bugis Street
SCAPE (or any other) Fleas & Warehouse Sales

I think that wherever we are, there are always places reputed for having astoundingly low prices, like factory outlets or specific streets like Bugis. The problem with these is the location tends to be less than ideal. Eg. Bugis street (1st floor) is pretty hot and crowded, and Far East/City Plaza buildings are quite old/run down. But I think this is good news for shoppers, since in my hapy jelly squishy wishy mind,

not ideal location = low rent = prices cheaper

Of course, quality is also an issue. That's why I rather buy mid to low prices items of a reasonable quality.

Recently I bought some stuff in Bugis with a friend that were pretty nicely priced.

Floral denim shorts -- $10
Purple lace dress -- $10
Striped jersey dress -- $10
Black elastic belt -- $5 (2 for $ 7/8 i think)
Black strappy sandals -- $19

The shorts were mine and i thought they were a pretty good buy, since usually,
FREE SIZE IS A LIE. For me, at least. I'm usually too tall for them (TAT)
One thing good about these is the elastic back, so it fits a much wider range of sizes. I saw several other pairs, but they were ranging from $15 - $30. So,

TIP 1: Scout around to find the best prices (Only if you can remember all the locations and prices! Also, timing is key, so make sure you return soon or the item might be gone)

When we bought the striped dress, the length on my friend was fine (no trying allowed), so she bought it. When we tried it though, it was slightly above mid-thigh. Lesson learnt,

TIP 2: Estimation
When trying is not allowed and you can only hold it up to your body to estimate, imagine it a few cm shorter. Depending on your body type, it can range from 2-3cm or 3-5cm. Eg. Bustier girls will need to account for the chest area more so than others. My estimate is around 3cm usually.

Next, on to fleas/warehouse sales:
One thing about fleas apart from crowds is the presentation. I have a pet peeve: A GIANT LUMP OF CLOTHES. I hate digging through them to find nice stuff cos the clothes tend to be crumpled and look less... buyable. It just irks me. But, if you don't mind, then you can dig and find really great buys there.
Contrary to popular belief, fleas DO NOT ONLY SELL USED ITEMS. Many stalls offer new stuff, not just second hand ones. Of course, the second hand stuff is usually cheaper.

So yeah. Today, we had a Kagayami outing again!! The theme was prints, so i wore the floral print shorts. I would normally pair it with a plain top like a black tank top, but since the theme was prints, i decided to go a bit over the top and pair it with a striped shirt, like this (^w^)v

Tadaaa~~

My makeup for the day:

Skin79 Hot Pink BB Cream
Candydoll Powder in 01
K-Palette 1 day tattoo eyeliner in super black
Dolly wink # 1 top lashes
Candydoll Strawberry Pink blush (sorry, bad light, cannot see)
Benefit lip gloss (from the I'm glam therefore I am palette)

We meet again!

Hello everyone!

Sorry for not updating for so long. We were really busy with school and exams.
Our exams just ended, so to celebrate we decided to have an outing !

We went to Plaza Singapura and ate lunch at 'The Soup Spoon'. Have you eaten there before? I ordered a tuna and mayo sandwich which cost $7.90. It was quite yummy and filling. The bread kept falling apart though. Ruka ate lunch already so she did not order anything while Ruki ordered mushroom soup with sourdough bread.

She wondered if sourdough bread smelled sour. Hahas! :D

After lunch, we walked around Plaza Singapura for awhile before going to the Neoprint booth to take a few pictures and talk. Here are some pictures:

Cheese! Our hair colors are so different !

Playing with Ruka's iphone 5 camera . Its good for taking photos like this!

After taking photos, we took the train to Junction 8 in Bishan so check out the price of Pokemon Black & White 2. For all the pokemon newbies out there, Pokemon is a classic. My childhood. The epitome of GBA RPG-adventure games. For more information on BW2, check out the official website here: http://www.pokemonblackwhite.com/pokemon-black-and-white-2/#en-us/home

Ruki bought Pokemon Black 1 today while I reserved Pokemon Black 2 so that I can come back and buy it on saturday. I can't wait to play! :D

All in all, I had a  g r e a t  time today . I am really glad that we could meet up after so long ! Thats all for now, stay tuned!

Riiko
